KitchenAid 5-Speed Blender Give Away!

by Susan on August 28, 2012

This contest has ended.

I couldn’t help myself. I saw a video on how the KitchenAid blender beat both the Vitamix and the Blendtec blenders in a test. Considering it is about 1/4 to 1/3rd the price, I just had to get one and put it through it’s paces. So for the next few days, I will be blending and reporting. And on Friday…because I want you all to know how much I appreciate you, I will be giving it away! (Make sure you read the rules below or your entry won’t count.)

To enter, simply leave a comment in the comment section telling me why you are interested in raw food. It can be as simple as one word, or as long as you like. I will pick a winner on Friday with a random number generator and announce who won on Friday. Entries will close at noon on Friday.

So far, I am pretty darn impressed. This is what I am eating for lunch. Right this minute. Slurp!

No fancy food photography today. I was hungry. And too excited to get this posted.  Hurry up and enter before I decide to keep this little beauty! If you can’t wait until Friday, you can find one here: KitchenAid 5-Speed Blender

Ginger Peach Strawberry Smoothy

serves 2

  • 1 cup frozen peaches
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 orange, peeled
  • 1 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1-inch piece of ginger

1. Place all ingredients in blender.

2. Blend away.

How did the blender do with this recipe? Great. The only thing I had to do that I wouldn’t have had to do with the Vitamix (because it has a plunger) is stop and push it down once or twice. It blended smoothly….even the entire orange.

i’ve spent the last few years at my job helping people find appropriate holistic diets for their pets. i love seeing the results and having people come back and tell me how much i helped. this has given me the foundation of my interest in holistic foods, and i have recently gotten into raw foods. i love experimenting with them, trying new things, and obviously the health benefits are amazing… i want to change the way people think about their diets.

Kristen August 30, 2012 at 6:29 pm

My boyfriend and I both have a substantial amount of weight to lose – We’re trying to make gradual, big changes in our lives that we can maintain. Introducing more raw vegetables and fruits into our diet is a big part of those changes, and the blender would help significantly!

I’ve been a vegetarian for quite awhile and have decided processed foods, gluten and dairy are the next things to go and for me raw is the best way to do that!

I have a few health conditions that I need to heal and I know raw foods is the way to do it.

Lana Daniels August 30, 2012 at 8:01 pm

I am a huge fan of your website! You have helped my family live a healthier life! I have a vitamix blender already, but I have a dear friend who can’t really afford a good blender and would like to win it for her. She gives so much love to everyone around her and is a blessing to many friends! She is very inspired by my raw creations but can’t make them herself because she doesn’t have the right tool! I would be so thankful if she wins! If not thank you for giving this gift away to someone deserving of it! My friends name is Jade. Thank you!

I absolutely LOVE raw food, not only is it good for you and nutritious, but it makes me happy, keeps me clean, makes my skin and my hair fantastic. The benefits are plenty. And plus I LOVE SMOOTHIES AND SOUPS and kinds of stuff and I find that its time for me to get a new one to ease my mornings 😛

Raw diet reminds me of my sister, she taught me about it, I miss her so very much!

Katherine Snow August 30, 2012 at 8:16 pm

At age 19 I was diagnosed with Celiacs disease and in the following two years developed allergies to dairy, corn, and soy. Although I was adhering strictly to my new lifestyle I still didn’t feel well. After countless hours of research and consulting a dietitian I tried the raw food lifestyle. Boy can I say that ever since going raw I have had 0 GI problems and am finally able to live life to the fullest. Here’s to raw veganism, which has been a real life changer for me!

Mallory August 30, 2012 at 8:19 pm

Having lived 7 years with severe stomach pains, several undiagnosable symptoms, and a serious amount of dietary restrictions, I have found that eating raw is such a good way to get the most amount of nutrients into my diet. It makes me feel good, and on the way to healthy again! Now if only I could make a smoothie without everything being chunky… 😉

Cherie Oden August 30, 2012 at 8:19 pm

I am currently living with my sister in Texas, and she and her husband need some SERIOUS help with their diet. We could definitely use this blender! 😉

Because my body is a temple and should be only given the purest ingredients!!!
Plus it makes one feel like a million bucks!!!! :)

Brenda Jeppesen August 30, 2012 at 8:42 pm

Why? Because I AM starting to love me…

patty August 30, 2012 at 8:42 pm

I want to eat food that the ‘bugs’ like to eat too it means it is vital food. not like that 20 year old twinkie that never decays.

Joanna August 30, 2012 at 9:06 pm

I think it’s very important to get back to our roots and the so-much-better-for-you food and environmental conservation that is necessary to get our world back on track, and raw foods are an essential part of this.

Esther August 30, 2012 at 9:10 pm

I have been making a delicious banana peach smoothie for breakfast each day. Our blender can’t handle it.

Morgan August 30, 2012 at 9:15 pm

Raw food is the cleanest fuel for my body. Its the purest form of energy, easiest to digest, and makes me feel my best.

Juanita August 30, 2012 at 9:27 pm

Increasing my raw diet is currently preventing/reducing side effects to radiation treatments due to breast cancer! It’s a win-win!!!

Linda Lopez August 30, 2012 at 9:30 pm

If we all were raw, the world would be a better place! More energy, positive outlook, feeling powerful and strong – why wouldn’t you go raw?

radioactivegan August 30, 2012 at 9:48 pm

I recently talked to some raw foodists, and their enthusiasm and energy level was just fantastic! I want to capture that for myself!

Jannie Borg Larsen August 30, 2012 at 10:07 pm

Thank you for making such a nice website! I am interested in raw food because of its health benefits. My husband suffers from cerebral ataxia. We are now eating much fruits, greens and some wild harvested herbs as well.

BonBon August 30, 2012 at 10:19 pm

As much as my taste buds love cooked vegan food; especially pasta, baked potatoes, and rice- My body completely disagrees! When I go completely raw or 90% raw I have more energy, I loose the extra pounds I’ve been carrying without trying, I have so much energy that most think I drank two pots of coffee; and my skin glows!! I love your site- it inspires me to go raw as much as I can and live well!!

Margaret August 30, 2012 at 10:28 pm

I am interested in the raw food lifestyle from the point of nutrition, as well as for its potential in weight-control. I had a Vita-Mix, but, once it went out of warranty, it died (I know, VitaMixes are supposed to last forever, but this is my luck) I’ve been making do with regular blenders and my food processor, but a power-blender would be such a help. I’m on a limited income, so buying a new blender is not an option right now.

Janice Renae August 30, 2012 at 11:03 pm

I am slowly making my way to RAW. It is a challenge but I believe it is our Future!!!

Paris Marie August 30, 2012 at 11:12 pm

i stretch my entire lifestyle toward the art of simplicity and continue to be amazed at how much fun this process can be. Raw food enhances my desire to live in my fullest most incredible self. Through this journey I realize how much I love myself! What a gift!

Michele August 30, 2012 at 11:14 pm

Trying to teach myself and tween son how to eat food in a way that is more pure and find adventure in every meal!

Valinda Holmes August 30, 2012 at 11:43 pm

I have to avoid processed foods and many cooked foods due to problems with fermentation processes, such as pickles. I was told to also avoid vinegars by my doctor. When I stick to raw foods I do not have a problem.

Heather August 30, 2012 at 11:50 pm

I am just learning about RAW food, checked out 20 books from the library and can’t get enough of it. I love the way it is making me feel.

Janet chadwick August 31, 2012 at 12:41 am

What could be better? less time cooking to make food that is better for both you and the environment, AND tastier and more textured. I am loving your site. Thank you.

Juicing has helped me fight off 3 kinds of cancer during 1990-1993, when doctors gave up. Now I would like to introduce raw foods into my life and a good bender would come in handy. Since juicing is so good for you, I know raw foods have to be also. This will be a new experience for me and one I am looking forward too, since I have the time now that I am retired.

I’m hoping that eating raw foods will help me manage my autoimmune health problems.

Lori August 31, 2012 at 1:43 am

I first got interested in Raw food because my son’s vocal and acting coaches and I have bartered extra classes for him in return for me being their personal chef. They eat Raw food 80% of the time the rest is vegan, I myself do not so after plenty of research online I came across your website and now its my bible!!! I have my 10 yr old son who didn’t like veggies and was a pain in the behind to get to try anything new be my personal taste tester because quite simply if the boy likes it his teachers will go bonkers for it. Since starting on this quest my son has fallen inlove with so many of the recipes we now have gone Raw our selfs at least 2 or 3 nights a week and love it both of us have lost weight an are feeling so much healthier. Also thanks to you this struggling single mom has now gotten a few more (paying) clients and am working towards bigger an better things!! I can’t begin to thank you and your website enough you have no idea the impact you have had on my life!!!!! I tell everyone who will sit still for a minute about your website and am constantly refering it not only to the home cookes but to the other chefs I have made friends with over the years!!

Pamela Dodson August 31, 2012 at 1:54 am

I truly believe that eating raw is good for my body and my soul.

Joie Neuman August 31, 2012 at 2:13 am

I’m more clear-minded when I eat raw! It’s simple. I’d like the blender to make unique, appealing creations. thanks.

Astrid August 31, 2012 at 5:38 am

I am interested in Raw Food, because it is basically a friend who brought it to me indirectly. She got sick of cancer and since she doesn’t speak English, I was doing an online research for her in order to learn about alternative medicine. I saw all these amazing people who cured themselves with illnesses that are usually not curable. Since then, I informed myself more and more on a daily basis. I am doing now a Raw diet and this is my 10th day.
I would like to learn more about this amazing food and health results and I hope this new life change becomes a permanent life style.

I want to eat real food and live a long healthy life :)

Anne-Laure August 31, 2012 at 7:35 am

I love your recipes, especially the desserts… They helped me get my friends and family to discover and like raw food ! My 14 years old daughter is now even more enthusiastic than I am. The only problem she has now is that she can’t stand eating crapy fastfoods that her friends have as treats, it just taste disgusting to her! She brings her own and is becoming a real “chef”. She’s making us, and even her at first reluctant teeenage girlfriends, raw delights and supper at least once a week. Our blender is really not very efficient and we can’t afford a really good one which would help her following the raw food path !

Stacy August 31, 2012 at 7:53 am

Raw food makes me feel energized vs sluggish, keeps my weight under control, and my skin looks more hydrated!

Britney August 31, 2012 at 7:57 am

I love the way raw food makes me feel. I am so full of energy when I eat raw. I feel like I can accomplish anything!

I stopped to visit a friend and she asked us over for dinner, it was the Raw Diet. It was very good and she told us how much better she felt. So over a year now I have been on the Raw Diet. Thanks to Susan and her recipes it has been easy to stay on too.

I need to fix my gut and my brain, which has caused a lifetime of health issues. My gut was basically damaged at 6 days old and continued to be for the next 35 years. Thank you.

Christina August 31, 2012 at 9:12 am

I started eating more raw food to help my sister manage her Hashimoto’s Disease and MANY food allergies, and once I realized how great I felt and my skin glowed from within, I couldnt stop :)
