Raw Food Fan Fridays

It’s Friday, and I am deeming it “Fan Friday”. I realize that doesn’t make a lot of sense, so I will explain. I needed a word that started with “F”, to go with Friday, and today, I am going to share some non-raw places that I am currently a fan of.  I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.

Wild Earth TV: (Link) Lilly is a black bear in  Northern Minnesota who is apparently getting ready to give birth. This link goes directly to an infrared camera that is pointed into her den. It is an amazing peek into nature and watching this mama bear in labor can quickly become an obsession. She even has her own Facebook page where fans are expressing their angst and love for Lilly as she goes through the pangs of birth. I am pretty sure Lilly is a raw foodist.

My wonderful friend, Lee Zukor, of Simple, Good and Tasty always provides great content and a in-depth view into our food focusing on local, sustainable and organic. Lee is one of my favorite brain storming buddies and he always inspires me. His blog is mid-west orientated but with writers contributing from many walks of life, there is great information here to get you started thinking about where your food actually comes from, if our food system is broken and what we can do to fix it.

I can’t mention Lee with out giving a shout out to Barth Anderson over at Fair Food Fight. Another fantastic blog that supports the family farmer while exposing the interesting practices of large food conglomerates. They are all about real food vs processed food and about real people vs the faceless giants that have taken us so far away from healthy pure food. In Barth’s words, “My passion is creating a community of farmers and eaters who care about sustaining our food, our bodies, and the land.”

These are a few of the places I love to visit. I hope you will enjoy then as much as I do.  I am off to the kitchen to develop a new raw bread recipe and get some sprouts going. Have a wonderful Friday!

Thank you for sharing a few of your non-raw food informative sites! I hope this will be every Friday! Congratulations to our new mother, Lily, the black bear. I know she is a raw foodie, but I feel badly about the intrusion that humanity has done on her “birthright of animal privacy”. I dislike thinking of the negative energy that is pulsating on her and her newborn cubs, via the live-feed video camera. When I place my hand over my laptop computer ,using wireless energy, I feel a tingle and burning sensation on my fingertips. Does anyone else feel that? What is that doing to us and our animals?
Anyway, I’d like to share one of my favorite sites, in honor of the new mother,Lily. It might inspire some creative “animal” food arrangements for a raw food dinner… or just help a human mother teach her child about animals. Here is the link…

It’s interesting that you feel this way. It is important to know that the camera is outside the den. Also, it is infra-red so there is no light and the humming you hear is not heard in the den. If you check out Lilly’s face book page (yes, she has one) The huge amount of good will and positive energy that people were sending directly hopefully over rode any of the negative from the camera. Plus, there are actually people who used to hunt bears who have now sworn off of hunting for life because of this. So, I guess there are two ways to look at it!

Susan – love this new post idea! Will you be doing this each Friday?

I had to do a double take on the picture of Lilly – I was looking (okay, staring) at it trying to figure out what it was. Then I decided maybe if I continued with the post I would figure it out. (I did!)

Miss chatting with you and hope to catch up soon.
