Raw Food Avocado Cacao Mask for Your Face

I love winter, which is a good thing, living in Minnesota. I love the snow and the cold. When the temperature starts to drop, I am like a kid in a candy shop. It means sweaters, fires and snow! I find the winter light breath taking and the air invigorating. Because of that, I am always shocked each March when I hit the wall.

Two days ago I woke to below zero temps and a ton of snow forecasted. The thought, “enough already” briefly flitted through my brain. I spun around…was that my thought? The winter lover’s though? Sigh. Yes. What to do? Have a spa evening!

We talk so much about all of the chemicals and preservatives that we put in our bodies, and how we are working so hard to eliminate them to be healthy. But what about the chemicals we are putting on our skin, via lotions and cosmetics? Your skin is your bodies largest organ and needs to be treated with the same respect as your internal organs. And after a long, dry, cold winter, our outsides really deserve some pampering. Whip up a face mask, and a deep hair conditioner, fill your bath with a great bath soak and to finish off, slather your skin with a skin softening, moisturizing oil. Bon Appetit to your body!

The cacao avocado mask is amazing for your face. Cacao actually has tons of anti-oxidants in it and is toning. The honey is a natural moisturizer and the avocado is rich in minerals and vitamin A. Your skin will just love it.

Banana Olive Oil Hair Mask. Did you know that bananas are great for your hair? The potassium helps strengthen hair and undo damage from chemicals and heat treatment. For extra shiny, and deep conditioning, a little olive oil added in makes this a super conditioner that will leave your hair soft and shiny!

How long will a jar of this face mask last? I want to make it as a Christmas gift.

Hi, Emily, This mask is meant to be used right away. The avocado is perishable. If you want to make something for a gift, the body butter is a great one! Cheers!

Should the hair mask be used before shampoo & conditioner? How long should it be left on the hair?

It is best to shampoo it out. I leave it on for 15 to 30 minutes.
