Banana Pineapple Green Drink

My normal morning routine always includes a green drink for breakfast. Sometimes that is enough to fill me up, other mornings I might add a little something on the side. One of my favorites is cinnamon raisin toast. This morning, I had a huge bunch of spinach from my farmer’s market trip, yesterday. I usually start with a couple of handfuls of greens, throw it in the high-speed blender and then toss in what ever fruit I have around.

 

 

This morning I didn’t have any fresh fruit so I looked in the freezer. I lucked out and found some pineapple and bananas I had frozen a couple of weeks back. I often will freeze produce rather than let it go bad. Even greens can be frozen this way and used later for green drinks. The frozen pineapple and bananas blended perfectly with the spinach and made a completely tasty, filling, refreshing green smoothie!

    I just made this, and WOW!! My very first green drink, and I actually LOVED it. I was really expecting it to be gross, but i seriously LOVED IT!! Thank you so much for popping my raw/green drink “cherry” with a fantastic recipe. I am enthused, encouraged and empowered to try more raw things now!!

    I tend to add mint to smoothies which contain pineapple. It tastes totally refreshing. Instead of bananas I might add couple fresh dates and of course a lot of green leaves. Basil also tastes great.

    If anyone is considering buying a blender to make awesome green smoothies, I highly recommend the NutriBullet. You can buy it at Target or Amazon for 100 dollars. Alternatively, you can buy it from the official site and make six payments of $20 each. Ever since getting mine, I have been impressed – everything is pulverized and the result is a creamy delicious smoothie. I also like the fact that the container that you extract the veggies converts into a convenient cup that you can take with you on the go and it is a breeze to clean up. Best investment I have made in a while.

    This was delish! Didn’t have a banana so I used 2 cups of frozen pineapple and just a little agave nector to sweeten it a bit more. Beautiful color, healthy, and excellent. My 22 year old son even likes it. Thank you.

    Thanks! This was a good recipe. A great way to hide the flavor of my greens which is good because I’d rather eat my greens than juice them or put them in smoothies but in this case I couldn’t taste them! My pineapple and bananas must not have been very sweet though because I had to add stevia. I also used young coconut water instead of water for electrolytes and added flavor and some chia seeds for my complete protein and omegas! Thanks again for the recipe!

    I made this drink this morning and it was fantastic. My husband even liked it. I will continue to have this smoothie and it encourages to experiment on my own. I just started following the raw eating lifestyle and am very excited. I am going to document my blog.
